Saturday, I went out with some friends to our friend Giacomo's house. We had a nice afternoon swimming and enjoying some good food. it was beautiful, take a look!

UFFIZI AT NIGHT

Last night, I went to a party on the terrace of the Ufizzi. It was incredible. When we arrived, we could have our own private tour of the museum and then there was a ballet and a huge party with 250 people on the terrace. we danced all night long!

BARCELONA

HOLA!

I just got back from Barcelona last night from visiting Pep, my friend from Polimoda. It had been 1 year since we have seen each other. It was so much fun, we walked around the city and saw all of the Gaudi architecture. It is incredible, the whole city seems like a fantasy castle. Its so cool. It is such a beautiful city right on the ocean, the weather is amazing!

It was so great to get out of town, it was so close to Florence, only 1 hour and a half from my house.

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all having a great may so far.

This past week I had a vacation because there was the labor day holiday in Italy. It was a nice break. Hard to go back to work this morning. I had to take my computer to get fixed, so I cannot load up the pictures from last week, but here is one that I took on my blackberry.

Yesterday, my friends Giacomo, Jessa and Pehr invited me to tag along to a town in the countryside called Certaldo. It was really near San Gimangano. We arrived and had to take a finicular up to the top. It was a small medieval village on the top of a mountain. It was beautiful. We walked around, they had a flower market, and tons of stands selling things, and then lots of places to sit and eat and drink! Of course we had to do that. It was a beautiful day and great weather. Then we walked back down to the town and drove to the WILD BOAR FESTIVAL. It was called Sagra di cingale. Basically you pay a set price and you can eat all you want.. but everything has cingale on it. which is suppppper yummy. we had tortelli with wild boar sauce, polenta with wild boar, then wild boar that was roasted. SUPPPPER GOOD! I should have taken pics of the food. oops! Anyway it was very good and really fun.

Then this past friday, dani, his dad and I went on another motorcycle rally (he has the pics on his camera, i will get them this week). We went out to chianti and went to an outdoor market. where dani bought me taralucci! they are just like the kakas that my grandma makes me but these ones were huge, like bracelets! but they were sooo yummy. Then we went to the famous city Greve in Chianti... and we a huge lunch with all the other people on the motos. This time it was an old vespa rally. so it was really cool to see all the vespas in different colors! then on our way home one of the guys in the moto club invited us to go horseback riding at his house. it was amazing, we went on an hour ride through olive groves, a river, forests, it was soooo amazing. I will put the pics up soon

BICICLETTA

I finally got a bicycle!!! I am so happy! I got it this morning and I have been riding around all day. It really makes things easier. Instead of walking to the gym 30 min each way, its a nice ride and im there in like 5 minutes! yeah

It was the only one left. It is red, and has a basket and a light for night time with a brand new bell. DING DING!!! I love it, so happy CHECK HER OUT

PS, her name is margherita... because on the side there is a sticker that says daisy. and margherita in italian means daisy!

i guess all my bicycles have to be red. My bike at home is red too!

THINKING BACK

Just came across a few photos of University of Kansas, It really seems like a lifetime ago that I was there. I cannot even believe in some of the pictures I really had to think about what they were...(maybe I have the shortest memory ever)

But, I am really starting to have an appreciation for my time there. It went by really fast. 2 years next month since I graduated wow. But, it just makes me realize I need to appreciate all the times I have here, the experiences,the memories and not worry about what will happen so far in the future.

It is crazy how time goes by and how you think your life will go one way and then it completely changes. I believe my life has changed from the path it was on before, but then when I think about it...what path did it really have to take. why did it have to be just one, why can't it be a huge road with stops and experiences along the way...:)

anyway on a happy note: dani told me that he might get a new scooter(vespa) with 2 seats and he can take me to work now! yahoooooo.. the bus is really starting to wear me down. The people are soooo strange, so smelly, always talk to themselves, are like 2 inches from your face. its so gross. im so lucky when i get a seat... but if i have a seat then i cannot get up to get out the door because its too packed. I got so bored that I started an album in facebook for all my unusual bus sightings (like for aliens)... yesterday I saw... a man with amazing sunglasses... you know the ones that flip up and down when you go inside and outside. But the best was the purse that was black with all the planets in the solar system as decoration. LOVE IT... as my friend Matt said " she must have gone to euro-walmart"....

Worth waiting for...

Just thought I would share with everyone, something that has made me extremely happy recently. After 1 year and a half of spending time with my best friend in the whole world... he finally introduced me as his girlfriend and I couldn't be happier... he really is so amazing and I am having the time of my life getting to know him and his family and I couldn't thank them enough for letting me into their lives. We are so excited for our trip this summer to the US, I cannot wait to show him where I am from :) Anyway, thought I would share this bit of happy news with all of you.

Not much has been happening in FLORENCE: Work, the weather changing every 10 seconds from rain to hail to thunder to sun to wind... really annoying i never know what to wear.

Next week we have a 10 day vacation, there is a national holiday so we take like a week off. hahah not sure why, but i am not complaining!

Im really excited because my friends CACKY and DAVID are coming over to Europe to go on a cruise and since I am in florence they are coming to stay in the city for a few days before! I cannot wait, they are coming in June, it will be so much fun! :) cannot wait to show them around. It has been so long since I had a visitor.. actually since Haley came in AUGUST! wow how the time goes by!

anyway, this post i decided to take pictures of my apartment. I am in the process of spring cleaning... but in anycase. CHECK IT OUT

I AM BACK!

So after over 6 months of my blog fading away, I finally had the inspiration today to start it back up again. I know so many of you had said to me...sarah where is your blog... but of course if i wasnt inspired to write it made it much more difficult. So anyway. here it goes...

working in Italy has been quite the experience. I really believe that by starting my work life here in Italy, I am preparing myself for anything that may come along. Aside from working in a different language ,understanding that it is rude to let someone take (not have) a coffee by themselves, or consuming the second hand smoke from over 15 people in a day( some of which smoke over 40 cigarettes in a day)....besides all this i learn quite a lot at work. No really, I am getting to experience quite a lot.

anyway, i decided to write down the goings on.. in a different way, instead of writing and writing.
it makes it easier for all of us. I also want to focus more on the funny situations that happen here in italy. because they are the ones i never want to forget.
First week of April:

- Daniele is taking the day off from work. I asked cool what do you want to do... he said he was going to stay home and make a salty cake for easter. i said. huh? sometimes this country and food... really its so strange

- the office is falling apart, my boss was sitting at his desk and a shelf filled with books just flew from the wall, then today someone was carrying 4 glasses and a bottle of wine on a tray... it fell and exploded everywhere. where else did the bottle of wine land...on the new precious arrival of an ostrich egg from africa...(this just shows if you have something that you need to be extra careful with...its going to find a way to get broken).

- last week i went to see the international (what a terrible movie) but the best part was i went with my friend sassy who has a king charles spaniel (who is a little chubby i must say)... we didnt have time to take him home so we tried to shove him into her huge gucci bag. to make him look smaller...mind you he is like 40 pounds. we put him in...smoosh after smoosh on his big butt, and covered him with my scarf. then in the movie he just sat on her lap watching, but just like us he got bored..only he fell asleep and started snooring. everyone kept turning around bc they thought one of us was snooring. then after the movie and after max ate all the popcorn off the floor(maybe they should just let dogs loose in movie theaters after a showing)... :) we went outside and the guy that takes the tickets looked at us with shock and was like " CANE NO; NO CANE" we just looked at him...and pulled the stupid american. "oh really, ah ok , sorry". After more looks of disgust, we went out front and max the dog, peed on their flowers. (not sure if we are ever allowed back in ) hahah joking!

-the weather is getting much better, thank god, time to change all the clothes out! finally, 7 month long winter, i dont know if i can take another one.

- anyway, made cheesecake cupcakes for daniele's 25th birthday today! Cannot wait to eat them tonight.

ok, i will write more soon, i hope all is well, and i hope that i can write a little more often than 6 months hahah.

ps. so excited my friend matt is coming to polimoda!!!he arrives in june. cannot wait
